Elsa Bravo, M.S.

RESEARCH FOCI: Latinx Identity Development, Cultural Values, STEM

Elsa Bravo joined the HDCI Lab in fall of 2018. Her major professor is Dr. Dionne Stephens. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from FIU. Currently, Elsa is an intern at Strong Girls, Inc., a non-profit organization that seeks to eliminate obstacles for girls from resource limited communities in South Florida.

Elsa's research examines gender identity, cultural norms, and familial values influence on Latinx's academic goals. Elsa is particularly interested in identifying cultural processes informing Latina's STEM field entry decision making across the academic pipeline. Elsa Bravo's Grant Activity

La persistencia Hispana: Examining the influence of sociocultural factors on Hispanic women’s entrance and success in STEM fields
This proposal has three aims. (1) the effectiveness of interventions seeking to increase Hispanic college women’s participation in STEM fields, (2) identify the influences of context on Hispanic college women’s participation in STEM fields, and (3) identify the influence of cultural values on Hispanic college women’s persistence in STEM fields.
